A Day In The Life Of A Sunbeam Teacher

Scott and I are sunbeam teachers. It is the funnest, hardest, most exhausting, but entertaining job ever. Teaching six or seven 3 year olds takes a lot outta ya! Last year we had a class of SIX boys and 1 girl....let me repeat this one more time...SIX BOYS!!!...all 3 and 4 years old! Our class went somewhat like this

Sharing time:
Everyone comes and sits down
try to get everyone to be quiet
go grab one of them from running up and yelling in the mic
try to get two others to stop pestering each other
try to get them to sing....they all refuse
one of them starts standing on chair, all other ones have to do it
try to get them to sit down
go grab same kid from yelling in mic again
and repeat all above steps at least 3 or 4 more times
Class time:
Get to class ask how week was
bribe someone to say prayer with a sticker
someone yells "everyone go hug the teachers"
all kids come running and attack us
try to get kids to settle down and sit still for at least 30 seconds
say one sentence having to do with the lesson
try to get kids to sit on their chairs as they are now running all over
say one more sentence of lesson
go get drink, come back
say one more sentence of lesson
color picture....no one wants to...bribe with treat if they do
play musical chairs to primary songs on my iphone
give treat, pray(by bribing someone with sticker again) go home

well that was last year, this year we have 4 girls and 2 boys and our class goes somewhat like this:
sharing time:
for the most part they all sit quietly listening
they all love to sing and sing loudly...most of the time a few words behind everyone else so they know what to say next
try to quiet girls who love to tickle each other and giggle
laugh(inside) at all the funny things they say

Class time:
get to class ask how week was
ask who wants to pray...everyone screams MEEEEEEEE
we have to play bubble gum bubble gum to decide who gets to pray
say one sentence of lesson
one kid goes to vent "i hear monsters down there"
all kids go to vent "i hear a monster to, i hear a cat, i have a cat, my cat had kittens, kittens are so cute, my mom says im cute, im a big girl, im a big girl to, ya me to, i like being big, i have big girl panties...and so on and so on....
try to get everyone back on topic, say one more sentence
girls start tickling again and giggling out of control
play head shoulders knees and toes 3 times
sit down, say one more sentence of lesson
oh, they're tickling each other again
say "i guess no one wants a treat"
everyone folds their arms
the second i open my mouth to say another sentence they start tickling and giggling again.
get drink, draw pic, play musical chairs
ask who wants to pray "MEEEEEEEE"
play bubble gum bubble gum again
give treat and go home

I love all our cute little kids and everything they say but by the end of each sunday I am SO done. It is so exhausting trying to get six three year olds to sit still for any amount of time...i think our record is like 45 seconds....not even exaggerating...and its only happened like 3 times. It makes it so hard to teach and sometimes I feel like theres no point to it. But they are really listening! Sometimes I'll say something and think no ones listening cuz they're all tickling or something and so I'll ask someone what I just said and usually they can repeat it. Soooo even tho it seems like they arent getting anything out of it they actually are! Scott and I love our calling and getting to teach these little kids each sunday!! everyone jokes about how were in this calling as a form of birth control....well its not working. I still really want kids...I just dont want 6 kids of the same age all at the same time :)
